HalallO Terms of Use
The terms for everyone who uses the HalallO app and website to find halal food.
1.About these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“HalallO”, “we”, “us”). They apply to the HalallO app, HalallO websites and related services (the “Service”). Restaurants that manage a listing also agree to the HalallO for Business Terms.
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2.Who can use HalallO
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older if the law where you live requires it. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you. You can browse halal evidence, Nearby and Search without an account; saving places, reviewing, posting Spots, asking questions and following people need one.
You may not use the Service if we previously removed your account for breaking these Terms, or if the law prohibits you from using it.
3.Your account
You can sign up with an email address and password or, where offered, continue with Apple, Google or Facebook (their terms apply to that sign-in).
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password secure and don’t share your account. You are responsible for activity on it.
- Tell us at support@halallo.com straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- One person per account. Don’t create accounts to impersonate someone or to get around a suspension.
4.Halal information is evidence, not a ruling
HalallO shows the evidence behind a listing: certificates, statements from restaurants and what members of the community confirmed, each with its source and date. Labels such as “On a certifier’s list”, “The restaurant says it’s halal” or “Confirmed by community members” describe where that information comes from. They are not a fatwa, a religious ruling or a certification by HalallO, and HalallO does not certify restaurants.
- Halal information comes from third parties (certifiers, official registers, restaurants, public maps and listings) and from the community. It is provided without any warranty that a restaurant or any food it serves is halal.
- Restaurants change suppliers, menus and owners, and certificates expire. Information can be out of date or wrong even when it was accurate when added.
- Before relying on a listing, especially for religious observance, check with the restaurant and, where relevant, its certifying body.
- HalallO does not cover allergens, ingredients or other dietary needs. Ask the restaurant directly.
- Halal evidence is free for everyone and is never influenced by payment, sponsorship or advertising.

5.Your content
Reviews, ratings, Spots, photos, questions, answers, comments, posts, halal evidence and other material you submit (“Your Content”) remain yours.
So that we can run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example resize or crop), publish, display and distribute Your Content within HalallO and in materials that promote HalallO, and to let our service providers do so for us. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for halal evidence you added to a listing (which others rely on and may remain without your name), copies we must keep by law or to resolve a dispute, and copies in backups until they expire.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to share Your Content, including permission from anyone identifiable in a photo, and that it follows the Content and Conduct Policy.
6.Community rules
HalallO works because people can trust what they read. Do not post false halal information or fake certificates; write fake, paid or conflicted reviews (including of your own or a competitor’s business); harass, threaten or discriminate; share someone’s personal information or photos without consent; impersonate people, businesses or certifiers; post spam or infringing material; or scrape, overload or bypass the security of the Service. The full rules are in the Content and Conduct Policy.
7.Reporting, blocking and moderation
You can report a restaurant, Spot, question, answer, review or profile in the app, and block another account. We may review, label, limit, hide or remove content, and warn, suspend or close accounts, when we believe content or behaviour breaks these Terms, puts people at risk or exposes HalallO to legal liability. A report never changes halal evidence by itself; a person reviews it first. If you think we made a mistake, write to support@halallo.com and we will look again.
8.Restaurants and sponsored placements
Listings come from public sources, restaurants and the community. Inclusion is not an endorsement. A “Managed by owner” caption means the owner proved they run the restaurant; it is not a halal verification. Sponsored placements are always labelled “Sponsored” and never change a restaurant’s halal evidence or label.
9.Location and notifications
Location access is optional. If you allow it, HalallO uses your device’s location while the app is open to show places and Spots near you. Push notifications are optional too. You can change both at any time in your device settings.
10.Third-party services
The Service links to or uses services from other companies, such as Apple Maps and Google Maps for directions, sign-in providers, and restaurants’ own booking or delivery pages. We are not responsible for those services; their terms and privacy policies apply.
11.Our rights
The Service, including the HalallO name, logo, design and software, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose under these Terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
12.Price
HalallO is free for diners. If we ever introduce paid features for diners, we will show the price and terms before you buy, and halal evidence will remain free.
13.Ending your use of HalallO
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop providing the Service. Where reasonable, we tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
14.Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that information in it (including halal information, opening hours and locations) is complete, accurate or current. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
15.Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or reliance on information in it, including content posted by other users or businesses. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
16.Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms, including claims by third parties. This does not apply to consumers where the law does not permit it.
17.Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using HalallO after that, the updated Terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
18.Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION]. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first at support@halallo.com; most problems can be solved quickly that way.
19.App Store terms
If you downloaded HalallO from Apple’s App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; if the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any), with no other warranty obligation to the extent the law allows; we, not Apple, are responsible for claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection and intellectual property claims; you confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Google Play’s terms apply to downloads from Google Play.
